golden anniversary celebrations in wessex
As part of The Arts Society golden anniversary celebrations we are organising a Wessex Area ArtsFest on Wednesday 25th April, 2018 at the Corn Exchange in Devizes
Prior to this we would be delighted if societies could hold their own exhibitions featuring artwork of their members and selecting two items to go forward to the Devizes ArtsFest exhibition.
Do think about organising one of your visits for 2018 to attend this day. As well as attending the exhibition we plan to hold a lecture by a high profile speaker. This will happen in the morning leaving the afternoon free to visit one of the many attractions nearby. Devizes itself is a pretty market town with many nice cafés and restaurants.
We shall be sending out more details of this day in due course. In the meantime, if there is anything you wish to discuss, please or ring her on 01747 852647
The Arts Society, Wessex Area is marking the Golden Jubilee in 2018 by initiating an Area wide project aimed at introducing older students in local schools and colleges to The Arts Society's accredited lecture programme.
The project gives students a wonderful opportunity to hear lectures given by lecturers who are experts in a wide variety of Arts subjects.
The lectures will help provide young people with a deeper understanding of the visual arts and will complement the practical aspects of the art curriculum.
As June Robinson, Chairman of The Arts Society said… "[this project] furthers the Society's aims to promote opportunities for all to learn about, enjoy and participate in our artistic and cultural heritage."
Each lecture will be funded fully and jointly by The Arts Society Wessex and the local society, as well as a donation from The Patricia Fay Memorial Fund.
